Job Description :

Our client, a major health insurance company, is looking for a Medical Claims Clerk to assist at their Long Beach, CA location.


This is a contract opportunity currently budgeted at 3 months with possibility of extension and a starting pay rate of $15.75/hour.

This position will start as a REMOTE position and may transitionto onsite at the Long Beach office at a later date.



The Claims Clerk is responsible for timely and accurate sorting, screening and batching of all Medicaid claim forms, as well as coding of third party payer; and Medicare Crossover if required by state contract. Also accountable for preparing and mailing provider remittance advice and ‘Return to Provider’ letters in an efficient manner. 



The Clerk will perform a variety of functions including, but not limited to:

  • Reviewing claims and supporting documents submitted by providers and prepare them for imaging

  • Updating and managing several claim log sheets 

  • Voiding claims according to memos 

  • Reviewing of daily reports 

  • Assisting with all aspects of the development process and support department clerical needs

Required Qualifications :



Required Education


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.



Required Knowledge/Experience/Abilities


  • 0-2 years of experience in a clerical support role

  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

  • Experience with customer service 

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) 

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, members, providers and customers Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to changes and response to new ideas and approaches
